Clinical Psychologist Individual - Couples - Group Psychotherapy |
About Me |
I did my clinical training at the University of Tennessee with a Ph.D. in Clinical Psychology. I have over 25 years of experience working with the varied issues listed on my home page. I work in a depth model where the focus is on addressing the underlying character structure and core beliefs. I believe it is important to understand what got you to where you are, or else you are likely to repeat the same pattern which is making you unhappy. This usually entails working on a weekly or twice-weekly basis over a period of time. I believe that at our core we are meant to be naturally joyous, confident, and fully alive beings. Through the hurts and injuries of life we shut down or disconnect from parts of ourselves. The process of therapy is one of reclaiming those lost or protected parts so that we can live with all of our strength, courage, zest, joy, and love. The relationship with the therapist is key for therapy to be successful. It is important to have a therapist with whom you feel comfortable, and in whom you can place your trust and confidence. I will work with you towards understanding yourself in new and deeper ways. The process at times can involve painful feelings and periods of turbulence. However I believe that the outcome can be worth the effort and investment required. Together we can work towards you creating the life you wish to be living. |
